Can my dog (JRT) living with 5Mo ~. cat we found? I hold the leash, but barks / growls / bites "of it.?
We had the kitten of 6 days now. Our Jack Russell Terrier is not growling and barking at her as it was before. He has learned to be cautious when we leave your side ( belt only) because she gave him a good scratch of the nose of the first night. I have kept the room at the kennel every day to get used to see her walking around the house. At first, this led mad dog, but now is more (but not completely) relaxed. The problem is that the kitten is very friendly and allows our dog approach her. He has cut a couple of times because they do not scratch it until after the NAP. He is aggressive and I'm not sure that would stop at tweaking if it were not contained. I'd feel better if she did not let him near JRTs because I know they are hunters by nature. I really want to have it, but if you do not hurt my dog (or kill) to it. : (Any advice??
Yes, you need to make your dog know that in no uncertain terms that the cat is out of bounds. You are not being firm enough with the dog. Once the dog has been trained to desist with the cat. We hope it will be vigilant, but until you are sure that will not bother the cat. The problem is not the cat or dog, is the coach has not trained well enough.
